Shahbaz Ahmed’s seven wickets and Pradipta Pramanik’s four-for help Bengal beat Services by 60 runs at Palam

Bengal beat Services by 60 runs in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at Palam after defending a target of 209. Shahbaz Ahmed took seven wickets in the match and Pradipta Pramanik claimed 4 for 48 as Services were bowled out for 148.

New Delhi, India: Neither side passed 200 in any innings at Palam, and Bengal’s 184 was the highest total of the match. It was still enough, because Services could not reach 150 when they were set 209 to win.

A low-scoring contest takes shape

Bengal were bowled out for 184 in their first innings, and Services replied with 122. Shahbaz Ahmed did the damage with 4 for 35, which handed Bengal a first-innings lead of 62. Bengal’s second innings finished on 146, leaving Services a target of 209.

Tanwar stands alone

Services found only one batter who could hold an end. Nitin Tanwar made 49 off 107 balls, the only real resistance Services offered. The support around him was thin: Shubham Rohilla made 19 and Rajat Paliwal 6, and Services were bowled out for 148 in 68.5 overs.

Pramanik and Shahbaz finish it

Pradipta Pramanik took 4 for 48 in the second innings, and Shahbaz added 3 for 44 to complete a seven-wicket match haul. Between them, the two left Bengal with the 60-run margin and the full six points, while Services went home with none.

What the win means

Bengal’s win came in a round full of big individual scores elsewhere, including Chinmay Sutar’s unbeaten 400 for Mizoram and Ayush Badoni’s 217 for Delhi. This one was different: a result built on bowling in a match where no side managed 200.

Result: Bengal 184 and 146 beat Services 122 (Shahbaz Ahmed 4/35) and 148 (Nitin Tanwar 49; Pradipta Pramanik 4/48, Shahbaz Ahmed 3/44) by 60 runs. Ranji Trophy Elite Group C, Palam, New Delhi, 20 October 2026.
