Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 118 from 33 for 3 drives Uttar Pradesh to a 68-run win over Goa in Kanpur

Rinku Singh made an unbeaten 118 from 33 for 3 as Uttar Pradesh beat Goa by 68 runs in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match in Kanpur. Zeeshan Ansari and Kartik Yadav took five wickets each, and Rinku was named player of the match.

Kanpur, India: Uttar Pradesh were 33 for 3 when Rinku Singh walked in at number five, and by the time the innings ended he was unbeaten on 118 in a total of 202. By the third day, that knock had become the foundation of a 68-run win over Goa at Green Park.

A lone hand on day one

Rinku hit 11 fours and two sixes in his 186-ball innings, reaching fifty off 97 balls and his hundred off 155. Madhav Kaushik made 45 and added 57 with him for the fourth wicket, but once Kaushik fell the innings slid to 104 for 6, 124 for 7 and 137 for 9. Rinku and number 11 Vansh Chaudhary, who made 4 off 26 balls, then took the total past 200. It was Rinku’s second consecutive first-class century: his previous innings was 112.

Zeeshan opens a gap

Goa could not capitalise. Zeeshan Ansari took 5 for 45 as they were bowled out for 164, a first-innings deficit of 38. Shivendra Bhujbal top-scored for the visitors with 44.

Juyal and Dayal extend the target

Uttar Pradesh made 197 in the second innings. Aryan Juyal scored 74 off 143 balls, and Yash Dayal added a brisk 36 off 14. Yash Kasvankar took 5 for 69 for Goa. That left Goa a target of 236.

Kartik Yadav finishes the job

Suyash Prabhudessai fought for Goa with 72 off 106 balls, but the chase never gathered pace. Kartik Yadav took 5 for 37 and Vansh Chaudhary 3 for 33 as Goa were bowled out for 167 in 46 overs. Rinku was named player of the match for his first-innings century.

The win comes in a round that has already produced Chinmay Sutar’s unbeaten 400 for Mizoram and Ayush Badoni’s 217 for Delhi, but Rinku’s innings stood out for what surrounded it: a collapsing batting order, and one batter who refused to follow.
