Kylian Mbappé converted a first-half penalty before Jude Bellingham and Yan Diomande scored as Real Madrid beat Racing Santander 3-0 at El Sardinero. It was Madrid’s sixth straight win in all competitions, a week after their Clásico victory over Barcelona.
Santander, Spain: Real Madrid were three goals up by the 36th minute at El Sardinero and never looked in danger of losing their grip on the match. Mbappé’s penalty, Bellingham’s strike and a Diomande volley did the damage before half-time.
Mbappé’s penalty sets the tone
Madrid went ahead in the 11th minute when Mbappé converted a penalty. It was awarded after he went down in the area, and VAR upheld the decision, though the contact was slight and the call drew debate. Julen Agirrezabala guessed the right way but could not keep the shot out.
Bellingham and Diomande finish it
Bellingham doubled the lead in the 21st minute, beating Agirrezabala, and Diomande made it 3-0 in the 36th with a volley into the top corner. By then the game was effectively over.
Mbappé hit the post after the hour in the closest Madrid came to a fourth, but the second half was comfortable for José Mourinho’s side.
A rising run
The win was Madrid’s sixth straight in all competitions, and it came seven days after they beat Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou in the Clásico, a match decided by Mbappé’s late double. Madrid are third in La Liga on 27 points from 11 games. Barcelona, who routed Alavés 6-1, lead on 30 points, and Atlético Madrid are second on 28.
Result: Racing Santander 0 Real Madrid 3 (Kylian Mbappé 11′ pen, Jude Bellingham 21′, Yan Diomande 36′). La Liga, El Sardinero, Santander.
