Adams, Evanilson and Rayan fire Bournemouth past ten-man Sparta Prague 3-1 for a fourth Europa League win

Bournemouth came from a goal down to beat ten-man Sparta Prague 3-1 in the Europa League, with Tyler Adams, Evanilson and Rayan scoring after Lewis Cook missed a penalty. The Cherries have won all four of their league-phase games and seven matches in a row in all competitions.

Prague, Czech Republic: Bournemouth missed a penalty, conceded a breakaway goal and still left Prague with a 3-1 win, their fourth in four Europa League games and a seventh victory in a row in all competitions. Marco Rose’s side turned the game after Sparta were reduced to ten men.

A missed penalty, then a breakaway

The first half turned on a missed chance. Around the half-hour mark Bournemouth were awarded a penalty when Ki-Jana Hoever handled the ball, but Lewis Cook’s spot-kick hit the inside of the left post. Within minutes Sparta led. Ebrima Singhateh ran through from his own half, beat the Bournemouth defence and finished in the 35th minute.

Within two minutes Tobias Guddal was sent off for a second yellow card, and Sparta played the rest of the match with ten men.

Adams levels, Evanilson turns it

Bournemouth made their numerical advantage count after the break. Tyler Adams equalised in the 57th minute when a loose ball dropped to him just outside the box and he drove it into the bottom corner. Rose’s side pressed for the lead and found it in the 81st minute, when Evanilson cut inside his marker and finished low across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.

Rayan seals it

The third came in stoppage time. After Sparta lost possession in midfield, Rayan struck from distance and found the bottom corner to make it 3-1.

Where it leaves the Cherries

The win leaves Bournemouth with the maximum 12 points from four games. It is their seventh win in a row, a streak that includes their 3-0 win over Milan at the Vitality Stadium and a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in the Premier League. For Sparta, the night turned on Guddal’s dismissal.
