Madurai Panthers remained the only unbeaten side in TNPL 2026 after a composed 21-run victory over Dindigul Dragons in a rain-reduced 18-over contest at NPR College Ground, Dindigul. Posting 171 for 7 — their highest ever score against Dindigul in TNPL — the Panthers’ bowlers held their nerve to restrict the Dragons to 150 for 6, moving Balchander Anirudh’s side to the top of the points table with four wins from four.
Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: There is a quiet but unmistakable authority about Madurai Panthers this season. Each time conditions shift or opponents probe, they find a way through. Wednesday night in Dindigul was no different. Rain trimmed the contest to 18 overs a side, handing both teams a shorter, sharper challenge — but it was the Panthers who adapted more cleanly. A 21-run win keeps their record perfect and their grip on the TNPL 2026 summit firm: four matches, four victories.
The Panthers went into this fixture having already dispatched Trichy Grand Cholas, Vida Kovai Kings, and SKM Salem Spartans in their previous three outings. Their most recent win — a 36-run beating of Salem — had seen Siddharth Mahadevan anchor the innings with 60 off 42 balls while debutant Rohan Bhutra claimed a stunning 2 for 9 to derail the chase. Against Dindigul, a new set of contributors stepped up, but the same collective identity held firm.
Panthers Set Their All-Time Best Against the Dragons

Dindigul’s bowling attack, led by the tireless P Bhuvaneswaran — their leading wicket-taker with five scalps coming into the fixture — and the evergreen Varun Chakravarthy, applied pressure at stages. But Madurai’s batting depth proved the difference, wringing every run possible from the shortened innings.
Dragons Fall Short Chasing 172

Madurai on Top, Dindigul Running Out of Road
The victory stretches Madurai’s lead at the top of the TNPL 2026 standings: eight points from four games, a perfect record, and a run-rate that reflects the margin of their dominance. For Dindigul, the defeat means one win from four matches — a particularly sobering statistic given the franchise’s TNPL pedigree.

They arrived at this tournament as 2025 finalists, beaten by 118 runs by iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in what had looked, at the time, like an aberration. A season on, the Dragons have yet to find their best self. Varun Chakravarthy and Vimal Khumar remain world-class assets, but the collective machinery has stuttered. With the Dindigul leg of the tournament drawing to a close on August 15 before the competition moves to Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium from August 18, the Dragons have precious little time to rediscover form before the playoffs picture solidifies.
Madurai, meanwhile, travel to Chennai carrying everything — confidence, form, and momentum. In TNPL Season 10, no one has looked close to stopping them yet.
