Shafali’s 25-ball fifty and Mandhana’s unbeaten 47 seal the series as India Women beat Zimbabwe by nine wickets

Shafali Verma made 55 off 25 balls and Smriti Mandhana was unbeaten on 47 off 25 as India Women reached 104 for 1 in 8.5 overs, chasing 103, to beat Zimbabwe by nine wickets in Raipur on Sunday. The win clinched the three-match T20I series 2-0 with one game left.

Raipur, India: Zimbabwe batted for 20 overs and reached 102 for 8. India needed fewer than nine overs to pass it, and the opening pair did it with barely a pause.

Zimbabwe never find a platform

Zimbabwe won the toss and batted, but struggled for fluency against a disciplined India attack. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano top-scored with 34 off 32 balls, hitting five fours, and captain Josephine Nkomo finished unbeaten on 27 off 35. The pair added 45 for the fourth wicket, the only partnership of any substance in the innings, and Zimbabwe finished on 102 for 8.

Niki Prasad, who made an unbeaten 39 on debut in the opening match, took 2 for 7 in two overs. Kranti Gaud (1 for 15 in four overs) and Deepti Sharma (1 for 13 in three) were equally tight, and Shree Charani and Nandani Sharma took a wicket each.

Shafali and Mandhana end it early

The chase was over almost before it began. Mandhana and Shafali reached 50 in 4.3 overs and put on 96 for the first wicket before Beloved Biza removed Shafali for 55, a half-century that came off 24 balls. Mandhana finished the job, hitting six fours and two sixes in her unbeaten 47 and sealing the win with a six. India finished on 104 for 1 in 8.5 overs, with 67 balls to spare.

A record-setting year

The victory was India’s 17th T20I win of 2026, one more than their previous best for a calendar year, set in 2018. It also followed a four-wicket win in the first match, when Deepti Sharma and Prasad rescued India from 19 for 4. The third and final T20I is on Tuesday, also in Raipur.
