Chiki’s 85th-minute winner gave FC Goa a 2-1 victory over Fortis FC in the AFC Challenge League on Tuesday, their first win of the campaign. Jorge Ortiz scored early for Goa, Rafayel Tudu equalised for the Bangladeshi side, and Essa Jallow was sent off in stoppage time.
Hawally, Kuwait: FC Goa’s continental campaign needed a result, and in Kuwait they found one the hard way. After losing their opener 2-1 to Tajikistan’s FC Regar-TadAZ, Goa went into their second Group C match without a point and with little room for error.
Ortiz strikes early
The Indian side set the tone in the sixth minute. Udanta Singh delivered a cross, Ortiz met it with a header, and the ball deflected off Fortis defender Ananta Tamang on its way into the net. Fortis created their own chance in the 36th minute, when a long-range effort from Pa Omar Babou was saved by Lara Sharma and Jallow’s follow-up header was blocked. Goa took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Tudu drags Fortis level
The second half belonged to the visitors for a spell. In the 78th minute Stephen Chukwude’s through ball released Tudu, who beat his marker and finished past Sharma to make it 1-1.
Chiki settles it
The winner came seven minutes later. Francisco Feuillassier threaded a through pass for Chiki, who finished into the top left corner. Fortis then finished with ten men when Jallow collected a second yellow card, for a foul on Udanta Singh, in stoppage time.
The group picture
The result lifts Goa to three points from two matches. Qadsia SC and Regar-TadAZ, who both won their openers, are also on three points, with Goa third on goal difference; Fortis remain without a point. Goa face Qadsia on Friday, 23 October, in their final group match. Only the group winners and the best second-placed team across the three West Zone groups advance, so Goa need a win to keep their knockout hopes alive.
Result: FC Goa 2, Fortis FC 1 (half-time 1-0), AFC Challenge League 2026-27, Group C, matchday 2, Kuwait, Tuesday, 20 October 2026.
