Cristiano Ronaldo scored three times in 15 minutes as Al Nassr came from level at half-time to beat Al Kholood 5-3 in the Saudi Pro League. Ângelo and Sadio Mané also scored, and João Félix set up two of Ronaldo’s goals.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Al Nassr needed a second half to settle it, and Ronaldo supplied it. Level at 2-2 after a frantic first half at Alawwal Park, the home side pulled clear between the 66th and 81st minutes, and the 41-year-old Portuguese forward scored every goal in that spell.
Kholood hit first, twice
Julien Domingues put Al Kholood ahead in the 16th minute with a right-footed finish. Al Nassr answered inside eight minutes: Ângelo met a Félix pass and beat the goalkeeper with a left-footed cross-shot from the middle of the area in the 24th. Mané then put the hosts in front in the 38th, finishing a counter-attack with his right foot. An early Ronaldo goal had already been ruled out for offside.
Al Kholood refused to fold. Loic Essomba arrived in the box and drove in a right-footed shot in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, and the sides went in at 2-2.
Ronaldo takes over
The decisive burst began in the 66th minute, when Félix burst into the area and set up Ronaldo for a tap-in. Six minutes later Félix supplied again, and Ronaldo rose to head in the fourth. In the 81st, Mané found him inside the area and Ronaldo converted to complete the hat-trick and make it 5-2.
The treble took his career tally to 985 goals by the count most outlets use, 15 short of 1,000. He had headed in his 982nd against Al Faisaly last week, and missed a penalty in the 1-0 win over Neom the week before that.
A late penalty for Domingues
Al Kholood had the final say, though not the final word. Domingues scored a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time to complete his brace and set the score at 5-3. By then the contest was long decided.
