Vacherot rallies from a set down to beat Lehecka and win the Swiss Indoors in Basel

Valentin Vacherot came from a set down to beat Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and win the Swiss Indoors in Basel. It is his second ATP Tour title and his first of 2026, a year after his breakthrough at the Shanghai Masters.

Basel, Switzerland: Valentin Vacherot lost the first set in a flash and won the last two with authority. The unseeded Monegasque beat eighth seed Jiri Lehecka 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 54 minutes at St. Jakobshalle on Sunday to lift the Swiss Indoors trophy.

Lehecka starts fast

Lehecka took the opening set 6-2, and for a while the final looked like his. It was a strong start from the Czech, who had saved a match point against Jan-Lennard Struff in the semi-finals.

The turning point

The match changed in the second set. Lehecka dropped serve at 2-1, and Vacherot raised his level on his own service games from that point on. He took the set 6-3, then held his nerve in the decider to complete a 6-3 finish and the comeback.

A second tour title for Monaco

The win is Vacherot’s second ATP Tour title. His first came at the 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters, and he had not lifted a trophy since. He also became the first Monegasque to win the Swiss Indoors, having already been the first from Monaco to reach the final.

His run to the title went through some of the draw’s biggest names. He beat Rafael Jodar in the second round and Holger Rune in the quarter-finals, then ended Taylor Fritz’s week 7-6(5), 6-3 in the semi-finals.
