Substitute Vinith Venkatesh scored in the third minute of stoppage time, set up by Sunil Chhetri, to earn Bengaluru FC a 1-1 draw at NorthEast United in Guwahati, cancelling out Jithin MS’s 15th-minute opener for the hosts in the Indian Super League.
Guwahati, India: NorthEast United led from the 15th minute and were still ahead when the clock passed 90. Then a loose ball in their box changed the night. Bengaluru FC left the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium with a point on Friday, after a 1-1 draw in the 2026-27 Indian Super League.
Jithin strikes on the break
The hosts got the goal they wanted early. In the 15th minute they broke at speed, Gonzalez found Jithin MS, and the forward finished with his left foot into the bottom-left corner. NorthEast led 1-0 at half-time.
Both goalkeepers made saves to keep the match tight. Injuries also reshaped both sides. Jithin was replaced by Parthib Gogoi and Macarton Nickson by Redeem Tlang for NorthEast, while Bengaluru lost Shivaldo Singh, who was replaced by Sandro Embalo before Chhetri and Suresh Wangjam were later introduced.
