Raúl García scored a hat-trick as Osasuna routed Atlético Calatayud 6-0 in the Copa del Rey first round, while Athletic Club and Sevilla also won comfortably and Getafe came from two goals down to beat sixth-tier UB Lebrijana 3-2 in Lebrija.
The Copa del Rey’s first round always hands LaLiga sides an awkward afternoon on small grounds, and Thursday delivered one near-miss and three routs. Of the four ties covered here, only Getafe’s was ever in danger. Osasuna, Athletic Club and Sevilla were all clear of trouble by the hour.
Getafe escape at Lebrija
UB Lebrijana, from the sixth tier, led 2-0 at the Estadio Municipal de Lebrija. Pepe Tejero put them ahead in the 10th minute with a direct free kick, and Yuyo Romero doubled the lead in the 23rd. Getafe, whose coach José Bordalás had rotated heavily, were in trouble.
They turned the tie around on either side of half-time. Abdel Abqar pulled one back in the 45th minute and Borja Mayoral levelled in first-half stoppage time (45+2). Bordalás then made three changes at the interval, and one of the substitutes, Orel Mangala, scored the winner in the 68th minute.
García’s treble for Osasuna
Osasuna made no mistake at the Estadio San Íñigo in Calatayud. Raúl García scored in the 13th, 39th and 59th minutes, the first two headers, to complete a hat-trick. Kike Barja added a second in the 28th with an individual goal, and Jonathan Dubasin converted a penalty in the 52nd for his first Osasuna goal. Asier Bonel, on for his professional debut, scored in the 82nd minute to complete the 6-0 win.
Coach Jagoba Arrasate handed Bonel that debut from the bench. The win follows a 2-0 league defeat at Sevilla earlier this week, a game Sevilla won through Isaac Romero and Félix Correia.
Athletic and Sevilla cruise
Athletic Club, coached by Edin Terzić, won 6-1 at AE Prat, who play in the Catalan regional leagues, at the Estadio Municipal de L’Hospitalet. Maroan Sannadi opened the scoring in the 29th minute from a Mikel Jauregizar cross, Robert Navarro doubled the lead two minutes later, and Gustavo Reinke pulled one back for Prat in the 33rd. Nico Serrano restored the two-goal cushion in the 36th. Substitutes then finished the job: Txus Vizcay scored in the 84th, followed by Christian Imga in the 87th and Selton Sánchez in the 88th.
Sevilla beat Sporting de Hortaleza 3-0 at the Estadio Municipal El Val in Alcalá de Henares. Robbie Ure headed in the opener in the 24th minute, Peque scored a penalty in the 40th after Sadjo fouled Carmona, and Rubén Vargas added the third in the 56th after Peque set him up.
