Mohun Bagan Super Giant came from behind to beat Sporting Club Delhi 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday. Lee Erwin and Miguel Figueira scored four minutes apart in the second half to give them their first win of the 2026-27 Indian Super League.
New Delhi, India: Mohun Bagan Super Giant arrived in the capital with no points on the board. They left with their first win of the season, earned after a first half in which Sporting Club Delhi scored once and both goalkeepers were kept busy.
Hnamte puts Delhi in front
Lalrinliana Hnamte gave the home side the lead in the 23rd minute with a left-footed finish, set up by Manoj Mohammad. Vishal Kaith and Nora Fernandes each made saves before the break, and Rodriguinho and Rahul Bheke had chances. Delhi went into half-time ahead.
Two goals in four minutes
Mohun Bagan struck back after the break. Lee Erwin equalised in the 56th minute with a right-footed finish, created by Bheke. Four minutes later Miguel Figueira put them in front in the 60th, finishing with his left foot from Lalengmawia Ralte’s pass. It was a quick, clean turnaround, and the visitors had the lead they wanted.
Delhi push late
Delhi kept pressing. Rodriguinho sent an effort over the bar in the 72nd minute, and Hnamte’s effort in the sixth minute of stoppage time also cleared the bar. Mohun Bagan held on.
Two sides searching for a start
The result was a first win for Mohun Bagan this season, after they lost 1-0 at NorthEast United in their opener, conceding in stoppage time. Delhi had also begun with a defeat, 3-2 against Bengaluru FC, and they now wait for their first points of the campaign.
