Bodø/Glimt beat Borussia Dortmund 1-0 at the Aspmyra Stadium in the Champions League, with Fredrik Sjøvold scoring in the 52nd minute. Dortmund made four changes and dominated the closing stages but could not find an equaliser against the Norwegian champions.
Bodø, Norway: Bodø/Glimt have a habit of spoiling big nights for bigger clubs. On Wednesday, it was Borussia Dortmund’s turn at the Aspmyra Stadium.
A first half of chances, then a near-post finish
The home side were sharper from the start. Sondre Fet fired over inside the first minute, and Jens Petter Hauge’s volley was held by Gregor Kobel in the 10th minute. The half ended goalless.
Bodø/Glimt then struck soon after the restart. Andreas Helmersen forced a save from Kobel, and in the 52nd minute Sondre Auklend crossed from the right. Sjøvold, who had started the match in defence, arrived at the near post to smash it in.
Dortmund push, Haikin holds firm
Niko Kovač responded on the hour with four changes, bringing on Felix Nmecha, Serhou Guirassy, Julian Ryerson and Ethan Nwaneri. The switch changed the tempo. Dortmund controlled the final half-hour, but Nikita Haikin stood in their way. He turned Nmecha’s curling effort behind, caught Nwaneri’s glancing header and smothered a close-range attempt from the same substitute.
It was not enough. Bodø/Glimt defended their lead and collected a first win of this season’s Champions League campaign, after a heavy defeat to Bayern Munich on the opening night.
A habit of giant-killing
The result adds to a growing reputation. Bodø/Glimt beat Manchester City and Inter in last season’s competition, and the two clubs had met before: in December 2025, the sides drew 2-2 in Dortmund, with the Norwegian side coming from behind twice.
Dortmund had the better of the closing half-hour and still left Norway without a point.
Result: Bodø/Glimt 1, Borussia Dortmund 0 (half-time 0-0), UEFA Champions League league phase, matchday 2, Aspmyra Stadium, Bodø.
Scorer: Sjøvold (52′, Bodø/Glimt).
