Anthony Gordon scored inside two minutes as Barcelona beat Getafe 3-0 at Spotify Camp Nou, with Gabriel Jesus and Jules Koundé adding the others. The win keeps Hansi Flick’s side perfect after eight La Liga games, top on 24 points and five clear of Atlético Madrid.
Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona did not need long to settle this one. Gordon had the hosts in front inside two minutes on Saturday, and from there Flick’s side controlled a 3-0 win over Getafe that stretched their perfect start to the La Liga season to eight matches.
Gordon sets the tone
Gordon’s goal inside the opening two minutes gave Barcelona a lead they never relinquished, and the hosts controlled the match from the start.
Jesus doubles it, Koundé seals it
Jesus made it 2-0 around the half-hour mark, finishing low inside the box. Barcelona put the result beyond doubt in the 73rd minute, when Koundé converted from close range from a Lamine Yamal delivery.
A perfect eight
The result takes Barcelona to 24 points from eight games, top of the table with a goal difference of +27 and five points clear of Atlético Madrid. They opened their title defence with a 5-0 win at Elche and later beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 at the Camp Nou. Getafe stay on eight points.
Elsewhere in La Liga on Saturday, Rayo Vallecano’s home game against Athletic Club was abandoned at 0-0 after home fans threw objects onto the pitch in protest at club president Raúl Martín Presa. La Liga condemned the behaviour and said a new date for the match would be announced.
