Ronaldo scores his 980th career goal as Al Nassr beat Diriyah 3-0 to stay level at the top

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 980th career goal as Al Nassr beat Diriyah 3-0 in Riyadh on Friday, with Samu Costa and Kingsley Coman adding the others. The win lifted the defending champions level on 19 points with Saudi Pro League leaders Al Qadsiah, who lead on goal difference.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Cristiano Ronaldo came back to club duty after a public dispute with Portugal coach Jorge Jesus, and he scored. By the 23rd minute at Al Awwal Park he had a goal, a milestone and the lead.

Ronaldo opens the scoring

The goal arrived after Diriyah goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah parried a shot from Kingsley Coman, and Ronaldo was first to the rebound to tuck it in from close range. It was his 980th career goal, leaving him 20 short of 1,000. He had already scored in a 25th consecutive season in August’s 4-0 win at Al Riyadh.

Costa and Coman finish the job

Samu Costa doubled the lead in the 35th minute, heading in a João Félix corner. Coman added the third in the 77th minute, running through on goal to complete the win.

Level at the top

The result keeps Al Nassr in the title race in the eighth round of the Saudi Pro League. They are on 19 points, the same as leaders Al Qadsiah, who stay first on goal difference, plus 13 to Al Nassr’s plus 12.

Result: Al Nassr 3-0 Diriyah (Saudi Pro League 2026-27, Al Awwal Park, Riyadh)
